Weltkrieg / Normandie U.S. Navy Mark 2 KA-BAR Kampfmesser hergestellt von Camillus mit USN Scheide Dies ist ein großartiges Beispiel für das legendäre USN Mark 2 "Ka-Bar" -Kampfmesser aus der Produktion des Zweiten Weltkriegs mit einer MK2-Glasfaserscheide. Die Gesamtlänge dieses Mk2 beträgt 12 Zoll mit einer 7-Zoll-Clip-Point-Klinge. Die Markierungen auf der Klinge sind wie folgt: U.S.N. MARK 2 Die Rückseite ist markiert: CAMILLUS N.Y. Das Mk2-Messer wurde als Verbesserung gegenüber dem Mk1-Design entwickelt, bei dem aufgrund des dünneren Designs Probleme mit dem Einrasten der Klinge auftraten. In Zusammenarbeit mit Union Cutlery haben USMC-Oberst John M. Davis und Major Howard E. America einige wichtige Änderungen vorgenommen, darunter eine längere, stärkere Klinge und die Einführung einer kleinen, volleren Klinge zum Aufhellen der Klinge, eines gestrahlten Knaufs (der später durch einen festgesteckten Knauf ersetzt wurde) ), ein gerader (später leicht gebogener) Stahlkreuzschutz und ein gestapelter Ledergriff für besseren Halt. Das Messer war offiziell als 1219C2 bekannt, wurde aber allgemein als "Ka-Bar" bezeichnet, nach dem Markenzeichen von Union Cutlery, das sich auf den Klingen früherer Beispiele befand. Der erste Produktionsauftrag ging an die Camillus Cutlery Company, die im Zweiten Weltkrieg die meisten Messer herstellte. Das Design wurde später von der Marine als US Navy Utility Knife, Mark 2, und von der USMC als USMC Mark 2 übernommen |
