Night-Vision Preserving Backlight

The Kestrel 2500NV is equipped with a night-vision preserving backlight to help maintain natural night vision. The NV backlight utilizes an optical filter to minimize brightness and reduce blue and green spectrum light, while appearing soft greyish-pink. Although not compatible with night-vision equipment, this dimmer backlight is less detectable during night operations.

Preserve Your Night Vision

Allowing 30 to 45 minutes for the average eye to adapt to darkness is essential for maximizing night vision. Exposure to white, yellow, green, or blue light can cause night blindness and vision fatigue until the adaptation process is complete. The red spectrum light in the Kestrel 2500NV's backlight prevents "bleaching out" and preserves night vision.
