• Note: The Walther P5 was developed in the late 1970s as a modern police duty pistol based on the West German police requirements document and significantly revised the P38/P1's swing bolt locking system. Distinctive features include the left-side case ejector, the combined decocking/slide stop lever, and the safety system designed for safe carry with a decocked hammer. The serial number 048487 falls within the documented range of 044527-050000 of the 6th P5 technical version; at this production stage, the modified hammer and magazine holder as well as a revised disassembly lever with a modified pressure piece were already introduced. A total of slightly over 100,000 P5s were manufactured, with the Dutch police alone procuring around 50,000 units.
