Flank locking mechanism

The locking mechanism engages laterally instead of through a lower lug. This makes the bolt action smooth and keeps the receiver low - the sight line is therefore lower.

Walnut stock with oil finish

Selective walnut wood, satin-matt oiled. An oil finish can be re-oiled unlike lacquer - small scratches disappear instead of accumulating.

Selective trigger pull

One trigger for both barrels, the order can be switched. This allows you to determine whether the first shot comes from the lower or upper barrel - and thus which choke barrel works first.

Ejectors

Firing shells are ejected when opening, not just lifted. This noticeably speeds up reloading - on the range as well as in drives.

Steel shot barrel

The shotgun is shot-barreled for steel shot. This is crucial because lead-free shot is required in many waters and hunting areas - a shotgun without this shot-barreling is not permitted there.

The ventilation lets the heat dissipate, preventing glare over the barrel. The red front sight is easy to spot even in poor light.

The shorter barrel is more maneuverable - an advantage in drives and dense stands. The longer barrel swings more smoothly and helps with synchronizing shots on flying game, as required at the clay pigeon range. Those who do both usually do better with 76 centimeters.

Hunting or sport?

Both. The BF18 is designed as a hunting shotgun for small game and driving hunts, but with the right chokes it's equally suitable for clay pigeon shooting. As an entry-level or second shotgun, it's precisely intended for this purpose - solid equipment without the price of a premium shotgun.

What do the interchangeable chokes offer?

You determine how tight the shot pattern remains. A tight choke like 1/1 keeps the pattern together for a long time - good for long distances. An open one like 1/4 spreads earlier, which helps at short range and with fast-moving game. With the double-barreled shotgun, you can combine two different chokes: open barrel for the first shot, tighter for the second.

What does "steel shot" mean?

That the barrels are tested for the higher load from steel shot. Since lead-free shot is required in many waters and hunting areas, this is not an additional feature but a requirement. When using steel shot, please note the manufacturer's choke recommendations - very tight chokes are not always approved for this.

What does 12/76 mean?

Caliber 12 with a cartridge chamber length of 76 millimeters - also three inches, also called Magnum. Short cartridges with 65 or 70 millimeters can also be fired, but the opposite is not true. This makes the shotgun flexible.
